Minimize the effects of stress
|
-
Massage can help you become more aware of your daily stress level.
It can also help you to recognize what true relaxation feels like, so you can more easily recreate it for yourself before
stress becomes damaging and chronic. Some of the symptoms stress is exhibited by are: anxiety, headaches, sleep
disorders, digestive problems, loss of productivity, neck aches, nervousness, irritability, increased blood pressure and breathing
rate, poor circulation, chronic muscle spasms, and chronic fatigue.
-
Massage techniques may trigger many relaxation responses:
breathe more deeply, ease muscle tension, and slow down to our body's normal pace for everyday living. Receiving massage
on a regular basis has proven to be beneficial in the reduction of stress.
- There are many types of massage, techniques and strokes. Each therapist creates
their own style and movement. Massage should not be painful. If the pressure or the technique of a particular stroke is discomforting
to you, please communicate with your therapist immediately, so a different approach may be taken.
- Massage is most effective when your body is resting.
